SWEET NECTAR OF SUMMER - GRANDPA’S GLASS PHOTOGRAPHY SERIES (Part 7)

Welcome back to Part 7 of the Grandpa’s Glass Series.

In case you are new here, I am sharing some stories behind the photos of the Grandpa’s Glass series. If you missed any of those posts, they are linked below. But, today, I want to share the story of how home-grown Texas peaches are a part of Grandpa’s story.

Grandpa’s Garden

There was a garden at the back of my grandparents’ home. After work, my grandfather would come home dirty, and no doubt, tired to the bone. But rather than lounging in a comfortable chair in front of the air conditioner to catch a few minutes of television before the evening meal, he would water the garden.

On the days I happened to “help” him water the garden and hose down the evaporative cooler, I was rewarded with a fragrant cocktail of summer heat, water, soil, and hard work that combined to emit the most unique, earthy aroma.

As an extra reward, if the peaches were ripe, Grandpa would pluck a few from the branches for us to enjoy. Maybe it is the memory, but I contend that it is hard to find anything more delicious than peaches fresh from the tree and still warm from the summer sun. Each bite released their sweet juices until your face, hands, and arms were basted in their sweet nectar.

I hope you will come back next Wednesday when I share another story from this series of images. If you are enjoying these behind-the-scene stories, please consider becoming one of the “Insiders”. You can sign up below and receive a copy of “The Stories Behind 7 of My Favorite Images”.

As always, thank you for joining me on this adventure.
