15 Minutes-a-Day Challenge

15minaday-125x125

I recently read a post on Melissa Dinwiddle's website about a challenge to play in the "Creative Sandbox" for at least 15 minutes each day. I felt empowered. Of course I can carve out 15 minutes a day for something that fills my creative cup. I accept the "challenge"!!

So, do I start with some quick, fun "studies" that can be completed in 15 minutes? Exercises to "loosen up" and get ready to paint? Absolutely NOT! Clearly, I need some time management skills and the ability to realistically know what fifteen minutes looks like. I may have over reached right out of the Challenge gate. I'm talking full sheet watercolor paper (image is about 19" x 29") of a detailed, old, abandoned, rusty, pick-up truck. My 15 minutes turned into more like two hours yesterday. Who knows about today? Lesson learned.

I may occasionally share a few of my 15 minute results, but for now, yesterday's endeavor is going to take me a while to muddle through. I am taking pictures along the way. I just want to make sure it "grows up" to be something I'm willing to display to the public. Unless, of course, it is a learning experience I can share, because, if you've followed me a while, you know I have a few cautionary tales at my expense on here.

So, my virtual friends, do something that fills your creative cup today. Carve out 15 minutes and paint, doodle, draw, write... If you are brave enough, please share what you create with us - big or small. YOU can do this!
